Objective
To engage a growing online community by fostering meaningful connections, providing daily inspirational content, and facilitating discussions that promote healing, empowerment, and spiritual growth. Rev. Dr. Ashley L. Dowden, a Chicago native hailing from the city’s far south side, embodies a scholarly and spiritual journey guided by the foundational belief instilled by her mother – the conviction that she can achieve all things through the strength bestowed by Christ (Philippians 4:13).
Her academic accolades include a Bachelor of Science degree from Wilberforce University, a Master of Arts degree from National Louis University, a Master of Divinity from McCormick Theological Seminary, and a Doctoral Degree in Ministry-Family Therapy from Amridge University. Currently pursuing a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling program towards licensure as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor at Governor’s State University, Rev. Dr. Dowden’s commitment to academic and professional excellence is unwavering.
Rev. Dr. Dowden’s doctoral research is centered on the creation of Bible study curriculum that offers biblical frameworks to aid individuals in navigating anxiety resulting from life transitions, exemplifying her dedication to merging faith with scholarly inquiry.
Ordained within the United Church of Christ, Rev. Dr. Dowden is an active member and Associate Pastor of Covenant United Church of Christ in South Holland, IL, where her steadfast service underscores her devotion to spiritual community. Offering her pulpit supply to congregations within the Illinois Conference and beyond, she previously held the role of Associate Pastor of Discipleship at a local UCC parish in south suburban Matteson from 2017 to 2021.
As the esteemed Chair of the Chicago Metropolitan Association’s Ministerial Standing Team and former Dean of CMA Cluster Five, Rev. Dr. Dowden’s leadership within her ecclesiastical community is marked by a dedication to nurturing and guiding fellow clergy on their spiritual journeys.
Embracing a multi-vocational ministry, Rev. Dr. Dowden also serves as a courthouse Children and Family Liaison and Advocate for Cook County, embodying her commitment to holistic care and advocacy beyond the confines of traditional ministry.

Dr. Dowden’s ministerial vision is rooted in providing comprehensive spiritual, practical, and clinical support to individuals, while guiding congregations towards seamless integration within their wider communities. Her aspiration is to empower individuals to embrace transformation through the renewal of their minds, recognizing their divine essence as fearfully and wonderfully made in the image of God (Romans 12:2; Psalms 139:14).
